This document describes the process for upgrading the operating system or a computer that has DataBundler version 8.0 or later installed from Microsoft Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 Server.
Overview
You can use this procedure to upgrade your DataBundler computer from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003 Server. The computer must have version 8.0 or later of the DataBundler software installed to perform this upgrade.
It is important to follow the procedure for upgrading the operating system on your DataBundler computer. During testing, it was found that certain security enhancements in the Data Center software are overwritten by the Windows 2003 Server upgrade. A script to reapply the security enhancements is available in this procedure.
Procedure
- Verify version 8.0 or later of the DataBundler software is running on the computer.
- On the DataBundler computer, add the CNTD_CDMaker user to the Power Users group.
- Use Microsoft's software and documentation to perform the upgrade to Windows 2003.
- Download Post2003UpgradeFix.zip to a convenient location on the server.
- Unzip the file. The zipped file contains two files (Post2003UpgradeFix.vbs and SetRegKeyAce.exe).
- Double-click Post2003UpgradeFix.vbs to run the script on the server. This script reapplies Data Center security enhancements that are over-written during the operating system upgrade.
- Click Yes in the Post Windows 2003 Upgrade Fix window.
- When the script has finished running, click OK to close the window.
- Verify the security properties for the DataBundler share. You must set the share to full control for everyone.
- Use the following steps to verify the upgrade was successful:
- Verify that no errors appear in the Application event log.
- Choose a small account to create a CD image.
- Verify that the CD is created and works properly.
