This document describes the expected behavior of Agents backing up Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST files. Connected DataProtector 7.x Connected® Backup/PC 8.0, and Connected® Backup/PC 8.1 currently do not support backing up Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST files.
Version 7.x Agents
Version 7.x Agents will back up Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST files as flat (non-optimized) files. The Agent will back up these PST files only if you close Outlook 2007 before the backup. A snapshot of the PST file will be taken if the file is in use during the backup process.
Version 8.0 and 8.1 Agents
For version 8.0 and 8.1 Agents in communities that have Connected EmailOptimizer™ enabled, Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST files will not be backed up. The failure to back up these PST files will appear in the Agent History. Agents in communities that have Connected EmailOptimizer disabled will be able to back up Microsoft Outlook 2007 PST files as flat (non-optimized) files. You do not have to close Microsoft Outlook 2007 for the Agent to back up the PST files.
