What is Direct Internet Access (DIA)?

Direct Internet Access (DIA), provides your organization with dedicated, high-speed internet connectivity directly from our data centers to the global internet. Unlike shared connections, DIA guarantees bandwidth, consistent performance, and enterprise-grade reliability with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that ensure maximum uptime.

Iron Mountain Data Centers’ DIA service delivers fast, reliable, and cost-effective internet connectivity through partnerships with strategic local, national, and global carriers. Our multi-homed BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) solution blends tier 1 carrier services to provide consistent, reliable connectivity that automatically routes traffic through the best available paths while avoiding congestion. DIA blends vary by data center and region, but some of our providers include Lumen, Cogent, Zayo and Arelion.

While Iron Mountain Data Centers does not offer IP Transit services directly, we can facilitate your connectivity needs through cross connect services. Customers can order a cross connect that provides direct access to carriers within our facilities, allowing you to work directly with these providers to establish your own IP Transit services and achieve the dedicated internet connectivity your organization requires.

What kind of SLA do you provide for DIA services?
We guarantee 100% uptime SLA with redundant connections and provide 24/7 NOC support to monitor and maintain your connectivity.
What is the difference between Direct Internet Access and Dedicated Internet Access?
While these terms are closely related, they have distinct technical meanings: Direct Internet Access (DIA) refers to a dedicated connection that goes directly from your location to an internet service provider's network, providing guaranteed bandwidth that isn't shared with other customers. Dedicated Internet Access is the broader term for any dedicated, unshared internet connection with guaranteed bandwidth, regardless of the specific network architecture or routing path. In practice, both terms are often used interchangeably by providers to describe the same type of service. The key advantage of both DIA and dedicated internet services is guaranteed bandwidth - you get the full speed you pay for at all times, unlike shared broadband connections where performance varies based on network congestion.
